ShellMPX is a frontend for my favorite MP3 player, SCMPX. Even though the author of SCMPX, S. Chiba, hasn't updated it since 1999, I still love SCMPX because it sounds great and is very very CPU and memory efficient. Typically, SCMPX needs less than 1% of the CPU and 2MB of memory. I love how it plays my MP3s because it has an effective graphic equalizer and removes the tingly sound on lower-bitrate files.

But since SCMPX is so old, it lacked some features that I was looking for in a complete music player. Obviously, I can't add support for other music formats, but what I did add was a simpler control interface, a hierarchial playlist list, alpha transparency, and process priority. The playlist list allows you to view all your music sorted by artist, album, year, genre, or however you want to do it. The play control interface is a lot less cluttered with functions that are more obvious, and it includes buttons for functions that the standard SCMPX GUI doesn't. Process priority allows you to set the base priority of the SCMPX process when the shell launches it; this fixes skipping that can occur since SCMPX reads and decodes the file continuously as it needs.

This package includes all the program files for SCMPX, the help files for SCMPX, ShellMPX, and all the required files. I consider ShellMPX to be pretty straightfoward, so there's no documentation except tooltips included for it.

Bitwise Operations is an app I created to assist in programming, particularly when using API function calls. As you may or may not know, many Windows API functions return or have parameters that are merely binary. The first byte might contain a virtual keycode while the next could hold the state of the key modifiers in single bits. Even if you know how to use bitwise operators and what bits hold which information, it's hard to visualize the bits and convert them to the required hexadecimal or decimal number formats. This program allows you to convert between binary, hex, and decimal by allowing you to toggle each bit in 4 bytes or enter the number in the decimal and hex boxes. Then, through the use of my carefully crafted GUI, it's easy to take numbers you've entered and come up with a formula for extracting certain bits from function returns.

In the example screenshot, I have copied the decimal return from a function. Then, since I know that the data I'm looking for is in the third byte only, I show how to use the bitwise in hex to return only that byte and divide out the lower bytes. Then the final box shows the output of 30. There's also an option for using Or bitwise operations, but I haven't found a use for that yet.

The way you code bitwise operations in VB6 is to take the return and binary compare it to the value after the And operator, like this: (ret And &HFF0000)
If you want a bit, series of bits, or byte that is higher than the first bit, then you want to then divide by the lowest bit you have included in the last part, which would be like so: ret = ((ret And &HFF0000) / &H10000)

Hopefully, intermediate to advanced VB programmers like myself will find this program useful. It certainly saves much time doing calculations and conversions.

I made this app to compare the skeletons in two decompiled Half-Life models and then upgrade the skeleton of the older model to that of the newer. I'm sure there's probably tons of bugs in this app as I rapidly developed it over a couple days to fix a problem with Counter-Strike: Condition Zero models. I don't guarantee results with any other models except when upgrading a CS 1.0-1.5 model to Condition Zero usable model; but, if it does work for other purposes, then all the better.

This one is a remix of a track from Hitman 2 that plays during the snow environment missions. It's a really surreal track with awesome percussion backing up the Hitman style. This is a screensaver that I made to fade to the desktop background upon the timeout of the Windows screensaver wait setting. Then, it will fade to black after a set time. Also has adjustable fading (which is really just a trick using WinXP's transparency effect) and mouse sensitivity. This is all in theory though, as it appears that WinXP doesn't like VB screensavers. I've tried a few workarounds but it always opens the screensaver minimized. Maybe later I will update this and finally fix it as well as add multimonitor support. The app runs fine as a regular app, though. Configuration is available by right-clicking on the scr file.

My only contribution to this episode was the "Remembering Columbine" story. In two days, I put together what many people were calling the coolest part of the episode. In my second venture into high school news editing, I started with a simple intro idea with an old and new version of a song (Mrs. Robinson, though not for any implicit reason) over black and white and then color video clips played at a high framerate. This didn't bother certain administrators as much as my Burn intro. Some of the news stuff is kinda interesting, but the interview with the principal is obviously just filler. Generally, all of this episode was edited by me (even the preview for the faggot car thing). This is actually the "Uncut" version of the episode, as of course, they didn't let us use the "Computer Upgrade" segment. That was done in my back yard with Danky and Loogie "upgrading" and me filming. This one is compressed with Quicktime because that's the only decent format we could get the gayMac to export to.
