This makes ranged shock damage spells travel at lightning speed. I made this mod because I thought it sucked that the shock spells looked more like a sneeze than a lightning bolt. This mod makes the lightning projectile about six times faster, meaning it can go about 100m in a second. So it's not quite lightning speed, but if it was set any higher, you wouldn't see the bolt at all.

This obviously means that you won't be able to dodge the shock damage bolts. To balance that fact out, I made all shock damage spells cost 20% more magicka. This was preferable to lowering the damage of all ranged shock damage spells in the game, which wouldn't affect other mods with shock spells anyways.

Since the shock damage spells still looked like sneezes, albeit fast sneezes, I also spent some time modifying the visual effects. The bolt effect is based off of Vortex's Shock Animation Change mod, which has a single blue-ish bolt. I made the bolt about eight times longer, though. Additionally, I changed the stock hit shader to have more of the shock texture and fewer, faster particles.

Short Version
• Shock Damage bolt is six times faster
• Shock Damage bolt can't be dodged
• Shock Damage spells cost ~20% more magicka
• Only one bolt that is eight times longer
• Fewer and faster hit particles (slight fps boost on low-end machines)
• Longer, pulsing hit texture

In version 1.1, a vastly updated version of mrflippy's Lightning Strikes mod was included because it is now much prettier with this lightning mod. The mod is included as a separate plugin, so the user can decide whether they want to use it or not. See the included readme for more information on that mod.

I used to have the scenarios as individual releases; but, as this game is fairly old now, here they are presented as one package.

Scenarios
• TRADE - A 2 vs 1 map where the player has to link up with several detached forces to overcome the enemy. Player: Humans
• Blackhole - A quick "oh shit" scenario where the Orcs are surrounded by an equally strong force of Humans. Player: Orcs
• Icecapade - The player must clean up large opposing forces on a nearby ice sheet. Player: Orcs
• MAGIC - A quick "oh shit" scenario between Death Knights and Mages. Player: Orcs
• OrcSpree - A neat 2 vs 1 map where the player must destroy two enemy bases across a large area of water. Player: Humans

It also can just check to see if there are any matches without the copying. I used .NET because it has good built-in regex support and file IO performance.

This program is useful for fixing out-of-sync audio in video files. It does the math to find out what framerate will bring the audio back into sync. You will still need a program like VirtualDub to fix the video file. Raptor is a program that I had to write for my Object-Oriented Programming class. It was difficult because we had to write it on a Linux server over telnet. It was supposedly a group project, but (and I'm not trying to have too great an ego here) I knew my skills and ambition would exceed that of most of my classmates. Besides, the majority of them were too busy playing World of Warcraft to write a week's worth of code. As the due date grew near and the slacker groups began to scramble to get some code done, I heard that they found my nearly finished program and were floored by my use of colors and grids (courtesy of the ncurses lib) and the fact that it actually worked. At the due date, my program was the only one completed.

The program is meant to simulate five prey and five raptors moving around a 20x20 grid. The raptors are obviously trying to eat the prey, but if they don't feed before 20 turns are up, then they will starve. The prey can see raptors in a 10x10 square around them; raptors can see infinitely horizontally, vertically, and diagonally (like a queen in chess). They all get to move in groups by one square per turn. All the prey on a square are eaten if a raptor lands on that square.

The AI is very simple. Still, for the simplicity of the rules, they do rather well. Thus, the prey will almost always get eaten in the corners. I only had time to make the prey move from multiple raptors, but they can still get sandwiched between two raptors or a raptor and a wall (I was still working on the math to avoid that). Raptors will move to the closest prey that they see and will continue in the direction they last saw a prey if it moves out of sight (unless they see another prey).

Since this program is just a skills demo and not a lot of people have a Linux machine just lying around, I provided a demo video done in DivX VBR. But the source and compiled program are also available. It needs all the standard C libraries as well as ncurses. The program has two debug command line arguments. Use /d to display prey coordinates on the info line. Use /d and /r to do the same thing but for raptors.

I made this simple app as a replacement to using the blank screensaver when I'm leaving the computer (usually for the night). Instead of the monitor(s) eventually going to standby after a certain idle time, they'll go immediately when you run this program. This saves power (since I know I won't be back for awhile) and keeps the backlight glow from disturbing my sleep. When I say "simple app", I mean really simple, like 1 line of code simple. It takes a single function call to perform, but yet Microsoft couldn't be bothered to include this anywhere in Windows' interface. It actually took me more time to make the icon than to do the code.

Tip: If you put a shortcut to this program in your Start Menu somewhere, you can set the "Shortcut key" to whatever hotkey you want and use that to put the monitor(s) into standby.
