This is the complete original Deus Ex soundtrack which I have converted to VBR MP3 format. I did this compilation because the official soundtrack is missing a large number of tracks, and some of those that are present are not the same versions from the original game (probably closer to the PS2 versions).

I did this compilation because the official soundtrack is missing a large number of tracks, and some of those that are present are not the same versions from the original game (probably closer to the PS2 versions).

But this isn't just a straight MOD-to-MP3 rip. I have also resampled any noticeably poor quality samples (e.g. hissing, distortions, pops) and arranged the tracks for mostly correct pattern order and also aurally pleasing order. Finally, I recorded the MODs to lossless PCM and then VBR (-V 4) MP3 using Lame. Files are named such that they are in chronological game order.

This one is a remix of a track from Hitman 2 that plays during the snow environment missions. It's a really surreal track with awesome percussion backing up the Hitman style. I cut it down and added small layering touches to some of the dryer parts. Jesper Kyd is the original composer. Check out his site for more tracks.

This is a remix of the Quiet Mix of Trent Reznor's "Hurt". I didn't think it was quiet enough. With graphic equalizing, dynamic range compressing, and some other filters, I brought out the vocals and minimized the hard drum and guitar hits. This finally makes Hurt a song you can listen to before bed. The screenshots show the differences between the two versions.

This first episode of the second semester of that year was almost completely edited by me. I had even managed to slip in an NIN track called "Burn" for the intro sequence. This part took an especially long time to do since the school only had an iMac for video editing (god damn you, Macs, with your single mouse buttons!). The actual news portion is pretty bland, but the "entertainment special" is rather funny. It features the poetic stylings of the oft-mentioned Gandalf the Cock. The credit music was not my idea. When I was getting close to completing this episode, people started weighing in with their two cents and coerced me into using "black music". I'm not being particularly racist here, as all the black people did indeed want it. However, as a whole, I'd accomplished my goal of making NNN not suck.
