I made this simple app as a replacement to using the blank screensaver when I'm leaving the computer (usually for the night). Instead of the monitor(s) eventually going to standby after a certain idle time, they'll go immediately when you run this program. This saves power (since I know I won't be back for awhile) and keeps the backlight glow from disturbing my sleep. When I say "simple app", I mean really simple, like 1 line of code simple. It takes a single function call to perform, but yet Microsoft couldn't be bothered to include this anywhere in Windows' interface. It actually took me more time to make the icon than to do the code.

Tip: If you put a shortcut to this program in your Start Menu somewhere, you can set the "Shortcut key" to whatever hotkey you want and use that to put the monitor(s) into standby.

This program was the answer to all the problems my previous "found on the internet" alarm program had (see images). My alarm focuses on reliability, ease-of-use, and useful features so that the user is always alerted in the appropriate manner of their choosing and with minimal hassles. • Multiple alarms that are easy to add, change, or delete
• 9 alarm date types ensure that you'll quickly be able to set alarms to match your schedule
• Big button text on the alarm dialog helps the sleepy-eyed and visually-impaired in the mornings
• Customizable action list lets you predefined what happens when alarms go off
• Choose from 4 different action types, such as playing a sound or showing a message box
• Sound actions can play any number of sound formats (WAV, MP3, WMA, OGG, etc) courtesy of the included FMOD library
• Program interacts with system standby to either prevent it or wake the computer up when there's an active alarm
• Intelligent, threaded time monitor manages its own polling rate and process priority to keep system usage down (especially when minimized to tray)
• Many options to suit the user's needs and personal preferences

This is a program that will take a Motherboard Monitor (definitely works for 5.3.3.0) High/Low log in CSV format, parse it, and output a properly formatted CSV file with only data in individual columns and each reading on a different row, suitable for import into a spreadsheet. This program was used to support a column I did on PC air cooling, found here. Source code is included so you can modify it to suit your needs if necessary. It was made using Windows XP and JDK 1.5.

This is a 3D sound demonstration app that was originally a DirectX 9 SDK sample. However, all Microsoft's example did was open one sound and spin it around the listener. I added the abiltiy to have multiple sounds placed anywhere in a 2D soundscape. It also allows the user to move the listener around in the soundscape as they would a video game. My greatest ambition for this program was to make it a sound engine for a video game set completely in the dark (hence the name), except for a scanner remniscent of the one from Aliens. However, that's far off from what I have now. For the final version, I just want to have ogg/mp3 file support and a DirectX effects editor for every loaded sound.

The source and some starter sounds are included in this release. The program is probably good for testing surround sound speakers, as well.

This program is useful for fixing out-of-sync audio in video files. It does the math to find out what framerate will bring the audio back into sync. You will still need a program like VirtualDub to fix the video file. The Readme includes a complete tutorial on how to fix audio sync issues with Media Player Classic, VirtualDubMod, and this program.
