This is a 3D sound demonstration app that was originally a DirectX 9 SDK sample. However, all Microsoft's example did was open one sound and spin it around the listener. I added the abiltiy to have multiple sounds placed anywhere in a 2D soundscape. It also allows the user to move the listener around in the soundscape as they would a video game. My greatest ambition for this program was to make it a sound engine for a video game set completely in the dark (hence the name), except for a scanner remniscent of the one from Aliens. However, that's far off from what I have now. For the final version, I just want to have ogg/mp3 file support and a DirectX effects editor for every loaded sound.

The source and some starter sounds are included in this release. The program is probably good for testing surround sound speakers, as well.

This program is useful for fixing out-of-sync audio in video files. It does the math to find out what framerate will bring the audio back into sync. You will still need a program like VirtualDub to fix the video file. The Readme includes a complete tutorial on how to fix audio sync issues with Media Player Classic, VirtualDubMod, and this program.

It's meant to remove a line from a text file if it matches the regular expression provided. You give it an input file and output file, and it'll complete the search and copy in a relatively short time (50mb in ~5 secs). It also can just check to see if there are any matches without the copying. I used .NET because it has good built-in regex support and file IO performance.

So far, this mod includes two sets, one designed for Thieves and the other for Mages. I did this mod because I find the items in Oblivion to be a bit bland compared to other RPGs. The two main item factors missing are prefixes and sets. Since prefixes/suffixes are essentially impossible to add, I started this set item mod. Nothing makes me more excited in an RPG than finding that set item loot. And nothing requires more decision than choosing to break a set. But hopefully, my items and bonuses are so unique and powerful (though not godly) that you won't have to go through those decisions. This mod is best suited for new characters.

This mod makes the lightning projectile about six times faster, meaning it can go about 100m in a second. So it's not quite lightning speed, but if it was set any higher, you wouldn't see the bolt at all.

This mod makes the lightning projectile about six times faster, meaning it can go about 100m in a second. So it's not quite lightning speed, but if it was set any higher, you wouldn't see the bolt at all.

This obviously means that you won't be able to dodge the shock damage bolts. To balance that fact out, I made all shock damage spells cost 20% more magicka. This was preferable to lowering the damage of all ranged shock damage spells in the game, which wouldn't affect other mods with shock spells anyways.

Since the shock damage spells still looked like sneezes, albeit fast sneezes, I also spent some time modifying the visual effects. The bolt effect is based off of Vortex's Shock Animation Change mod, which has a single blue-ish bolt. I made the bolt about eight times longer, though. Additionally, I changed the stock hit shader to have more of the shock texture and fewer, faster particles.

Short Version
• Shock Damage bolt is six times faster
• Shock Damage bolt can't be dodged
• Shock Damage spells cost ~20% more magicka
• Only one bolt that is eight times longer
• Fewer and faster hit particles (slight fps boost on low-end machines)
• Longer, pulsing hit texture

In version 1.1, a vastly updated version of mrflippy's Lightning Strikes mod was included because it is now much prettier with this lightning mod. The mod is included as a separate plugin, so the user can decide whether they want to use it or not. See the included readme for more information on that mod.
