Well, I’m gonna report on a few things. Infiltration is mighty damn cool. First off though, the installation/setup is a bitch. Luckily, I am a master at all things computer (except local area networks, obviously). After I got the first huge-ass download complete, I went ahead and played some UT deathmatch maps (as the maps have to be downloaded separately) and it’s pretty easy to get into the game. I recommend Barricade with 10 or 12 bots if you don’t have the time to download the 43MB maps.
The credit system in the loadout is rather interesting, either you can buy a sniper rifle (H&K PSG or Robar .50) and maybe a sidearm and ammo or purchase 2 sidearms, 2 SMGs, a Colt Rifle w/ M203 grenade launcher, another grenade launcher, an integral sepressor, 5 frag grenades, a knife, and all the ammo possible for every weapon (even sniper rifles, in case you pick one up). Of course, most would go for the second layout for the number of weapons and allout firepower. The .50 caliber rifle, though, is devastating against the cumbersome bots in the hands of a good sniper. Once I got the maps, I was really suprised, several of them are actually quite fun. Cuban Dawn has a CounterStrike feel to it, one team is in a house overlooking key chokepoints and the other has to prod their way into the house and hold these positions. It’s nothing but a deathmatch, but the developers hope to soon make it into something more assault-like. I haven’t had a whole lot of time to try out all the maps, but Installation is my favorite. The only thing is the red team’s bots seem to love suiciding at the beginning of the map by falling too far down, leaving it up to Snake to camp outside the blue base with my M203. Gibbies!!!
And, currently…I’ve gotten some new MODs. All the ones that Loog prescribed for me sound either like lousy rock or game music from an atari. So, Snake called up on some of his favorite artists at TiS for some goodness, the best being Martian Lovesong by Necros and Annie by Nighthawk. What’s totally amazing is that all of Nighthawk’s music has been given a 10, but one of the best trackers technically (Necros) is given ratings of 8 on a lot of his best stuff (most of it has been rated 5 times, though). So, if you get any new music, look towards the greats, not new, shitty artists.
