Ok, so I’m finally posting again… sure, lots of things have gone on, but will I report them all? Probably not

• The gHeTTo Lockup Catastrophe (also known as Driver Catastrophe) has been fixed. I’m not exactly sure what it was, but I formatted (and just had to format yet again, cause my 2ndary HDD went bad), and now everything’s fine. Video driver conflict was probably why.
• I have been benching my new GeForce2 a lot lately, and met a breakthrough! I kept scoring around 2200, 2300 marks in 3DMark ’00… but then I set my card to allow applications to adjust AntiAliasing mode… and my highest w/ max overclocking is 6155. • I just bought Max Payne… it’s amazing, but I haven’t been able to figure out how to make the console’s show_fps work yet. Here’s 3 screens from it:
  
• I’ll just throw everything else in here: w/ the new MBM, I get accurate readings on everything, and my heat’s a little lower now for some reason (insert note about G-Cock here, Snake); SOF ownz on my GF2; my printer died, as did my CD-RW; I just got my new “Micron” RAM… it works fine in CL2/Medium, but in Fast or Turbo, Windows doesn’t finish loading 😡 ; do u want my old Kingston 256MB RAM? If so, e-mail me about it; S&L Computers will be underway w/in a month; I’m out, I’ll think of more Monday.

I’ve been saving this entry for about a week. Many badass things have happened lately. I’ll break it down:

• I got a WebCam! An IBM PC Camera, for $60 (little high, don’t buy from ur friends 😮 ). I set it up atop my monitor, connected via USB. I had some problems w/ the drivers @ first, but now it works perfectly. This supports 3 reses, picks up sound, and can either take snapshot pics or motion avis. Here’s a few pics from it:
  
• I got a new Blue Orb fan from The Card Cooler (pictured above). It took about an hour to remove my old heatsink/fan and paste this on w/ Arctic Silver II paste. I hooked it to a MB fan header w/out a sensor, so I can’t test the RPM of it… anyway, this will make my GeForce2 reasonably cooler.
• The GhetTO Driver Catastrophe: First, I noticed that my USB ports didn’t detect new devices anymore (I noticed this when I hooked my WebCam up). So Snake suggested I go to viahardware.com and get the latest 4-in-1 drivers (v4.33, w/ newest AGP GART). I did, and shortly after (this was about the same time I put my newly-fanned GeForce in), it kept locking: in IE, CS, anything. So I reinstalled it once, then got some older drivers, still locked. Got just new AGP GART, still locked. I even tried doubling my AGP Aperture size in BIOS. Just a couple hours ago, I got the original AGP GARTs that came w/ our systems, and it works fine. I still have the newest 4-in-1. Anyway, what this solved was not only my USB (I think), but my IRQ collision problem.
  

  VIA PCI IRQ Miniport Driver is to be installed under Windows 98 only, it willfixed PCI IRQ routing sequence.

• Ever since the first S&L Surge failed LAN party, I lost my net protocols cause of network installions 😕 . So, I got my Windows 98 CD back from Snake, and reinstalled them. Now I can connect automatically to the net again.
• I e-mailed my uncle Bruce about the upcoming S&L Computers company. By December, we should definitely have this up & running. If u have an old computer, or not one @ all, ask us to sell u one: less travel distance, tweaked to ur liking, total installation, extra options (like painting).
• What else… um, I got those MODs Snake was talkin bout… all the MODs on the newest 3 Top10s are great. And… my computer is still quite hot (88° avg.), so I will probably change my CPU-HS contact from tape to paste. I will Overclock my GeForce once it’s cooler.
• Life is good… is it for u?

I feel it wrong to go to sleep w/out adding to Snake‘s news entry a bit.

• Internet Explorer 6.0 came out about 2 weeks ago.

  Noticeable changes: New webpage icons; better picture-saving system; download window changed; Media Search icon added to toolbar

• TweakUI v1.33 is out- not sure how old? Maybe months old, but I just re-got it for the first time in about a year, and there are a lot of new features. Get it!
• Sonique v.1.95– working equalizer, few crashing bugs fixed

Ok, I’ve got a bunch of assorted updates:

Last night, I installed a new Hard Drive: Snake‘s old Western Digital 5.1 from the POS Packard Bell. It’s pretty good though, considering it’s 3.5 years old. I’m using it for backups and the files for this site. When I installed it first, I got a big problem w/ my video drivers, but now they’re ok. And speaking of video drivers, nVIDIA’s newest reference driver, v21.81, is out @ their site. These are extremely stable.

What else… I got Mr. Roboto mp3 yesterday, it’s great (thanks to hearing it @ Snake‘s house). Big Daddy was right: “Styx was one of the greatest American rock bands, but they caught a bad rep cause most critics are cynical assholes.”

Physical news: 2/4 panels of my case are painted beautifully, and I put a lot of custom stickers on the front. Also on the MOD front, I put a gheTTo-style fan in the lower front bay area and hooked it up to fan3 header, to suck air in. I moved my VCR to hook up to my sound card for recording more easily, so I may have some good movies segments up for download soon.
