Downloads down, FTP up

I moved all of our downloads to the new public ftp, so if you need anything, just head to ftp.s–l.com. There’s some nifty shitz in there, like a self-extracting copy of the retail Doom wad. Better get that one now before I delete it. 😛

Besides that, everything appears to be functioning properly.

If you see this…

You’ve reached the new S–L.com! 😮

I’m still fixing issues with paths and permission but everything has been uploaded. Lemme know if you see any problems. 😉

AOK, JaguarPC, ADSL, and Int

All the boys at S&L have been playing a fucking load of Age of Kings, lately; in particular, the expansion, The Conquerors. It’s just too much fun building up your civilization and then kicking ass (usually Loog’s 😛 ). I’ve also made a couple of maps that should be available soon on the site. One was quite int and lead to a four hour free-for-all between Que, Loog, and myself. I call that map “Atolls” but I believe it deserves the subtitle of “Find that last Goddamn Villager!”. I’ve notice a trend in all of our recent AOK games, though: I always win. 😀 (Except when you set the AI to moderate on an island map.) Screenage:

Now, about the JaguarPC business: S&L is changing its web host to Jaguar, the same host that Gr-Dragon uses for his site on playing RPGs with cards (I’d give you a link but that shit is for overly-nerdy simps 😀 ). Either way, expect the site to be in a rather int state for a few days. We’ll still be at S–L.com, though!

As for Sectorlink, I hope they go out of business. They really did fuck me royally. It just took me a while to notice cause it was such a slow affair. A glimpse at what we can offer with JaguarPC: subdomains (surge.s–l.com), anonymous FTP, PHP w/ MySQL databases (may mean a recoding of the entire Demoboard, Glossary, etc.), and much more space (200MB) to give you even more of that S&L taste you love. 😉 Not only that but it costs less, so now I can get…

DSL! That’s right, Asynchronous Digital Subscriber Lines are becoming available in this rat hole! 😮 I dunno about the surrounding towns getting DSLAMs but who gives a fuck about them when you can download shit at least ten times faster! 😀

Demo Review Bonus SShots

As you may have already seen from the ticker, I reviewed Dungeon Siege. It’s one of the few demos that I have given a 10, and it really deserved it. Check out the review here. Of course, there’s only 3 sshot slots in the reviews, so here’s some additional eye candy for you to suck on:

Do a little Surge, do a little VB, get down tonight.

Que’s most likely tired of seeing the old news, because he tells me today how many days it’s been since that news. So, mainly, we’ve all been pretty busy ending school, working, and I particularly have been having an affair with another non-website programming language. As you can tell from the title, that’s Visual Basic. 😮 I’m currently working on a little winsock driven chat/file sharing program. I made it specifically for chatting at LAN Parties, because obviously you can’t do that normally (unless everyone at the party is also connected to the internet). So far it detects your IP, connects to multiple hosts, and allows chat sessions. Not enough functionality (not to mention bugs) to release a beta just yet, but in time…every LAN Party won’t be without it. 😛

Speaking of LAN Parties, we had Surge 2.5 this weekend. For a full debriefing on that, head to the Surge Site. There’s news, pics, and scores from our favorite gaming event.

PCG, JK2, KaZaA, Surge, and Truancy

The saying “No news is good news” doesn’t ever apply here. It’s more like “No news is lazy ass editors”. Que actually did some stuff; however he’s on summer break. 😕

As you can tell from the subject, I has a good deal to discuss. First off, I extracted two remarks from the newest PCG that I found int.

We were impressed, too, by how much Bridge Commander’s Lt. Felix Savali resembles The Rock.

As you may know from my Bridge Commander demo review, I also (very intelligently 😛 ) noticed the similarity.

Also, what’s the deal with the tactical officer looking like The Rock???

The second remark was by TheVede in a special Hard Stuff FAQ. He said that early in gaming when people were struggling to get playable fps, overclocking made sense, but with today’s hardware and games, it just doesn’t make clear sense. The P4 and Athlon XP with a GF3 or newer video card made it obvious that overclocking isn’t worth the stability problems. (Those are Greg’s general thoughts but I reworded it). For now, the hardware may be more advanced than the games but sooner or later, everyone will have to OC (unless you’re a spoiled fuck or have a good job) to maintain every precious frame.

Speaking of games, Jedi Knight 2 is amazing. I’m having trouble getting over the stale first five SP levels, but the MP is solid fun. Just like as I stated in my review, the lightsaber battles are absolutely brilliant. The multiplayer mode called Duel is my current favorite. At first, I started with giving the bots maximum available force powers but my ass got owned too much (it’s hard to concentrate on all the force powers when you still have to wield the saber). Now, I’m content with fighting Padawan bots that merely have Force Jump. It’s like you’re actually a jedi in training, having to master your lightsaber before mastering the force. Truly a unique gaming experience. :)

I remember that good old Morpheus. It was like taking candy from a baby (only you have to be careful, because sometimes it not really candy[those damn babies! 😕 ]). Anyways, KaZaA is 99% of what the old Morph was like. It’s almost funny how similar they look and function. Anyways, if you haven’t converted from Morph to KaZ, yet, then you should take my advice and get it soon.

Loog has a job. 😮 Yeh, I know, when Gr-Dragon heard, he said that the world must be coming to an end. But with this job, Loog has managed to (through common use of his mastery mooch ability 😛 ) obtain $350 for a new (Abit? Leadtek? [SenEd’s Note: Abit!]) GF4 [SenEd’s Note: Ti4600!]. Also, he bought a Netgear FS108 8-Port Switch for the next Surge event.

And Furthermore, us lead editors have 9 days left of the utter waste of good energy that you common llamas call school. What’s worse is we can’t buck anymore for these cocksucking 😮 truancy laws. 😡
