Starting Sunday night, Loog and I have been investigating the tricks to the MSN Messenger Protocol. Loogie came across a site called Mess with MSN Messenger and that’s pretty much all it is, everything from customizations to malicious secrets and even a list of blocked words for MSN display names. It doesn’t particularly matter that the name is blocked, though, because Heavy K’s Nick Changer can change it to anything you want. That’s right…impress your friends by logging on as “Fuck MSN Penis”. Or, confuse your friends and later fuck the hell outta them with “&#xxx;”. This mischievous string causes all sorts of problems to some users, but most notibly causes the person named &#xxx; to be unblockable.

Loogie turned himself into the unblockable superpower Sunday night. It really is a nightmare knowing that you can’t block him if needed; therefore, I was on the trail of a fix immediately. 😡 I found the needed commands to be able to remedy the problem at Heavy K’s, but no way to issue them. Then, I found two other sites that had the needed base source code and additional commands, here and here. I went about making a VB6 program just to battle this evil unblockable superpower, and the product of that can be found here. Screenage:

I’ve coded another CGI script for the top frame that pulls the three most recent reviews from the Demoboard database, which now makes posting News about new reviews unnecessary. Also, I have removed the auto-refresh from the top frame (temporarily?) and tweaked with other aspects that should improve load times for returning visitors. And…that’s it.

I scanned some of my old analog art, retouched it a little, and put it in my section of the Photo Album. There’s something for everyone in there, including a very old conceptual comic that I called “Grubo & Worm”. Enjoy here.

Just one quick review today, Shogun: Total War. Another one that’s good on the gameplay side, but lacks in style.

Yeh, so… yesterday, amidst being sick 😕 , I did something to the music DB that Snake calls the “most boom thing [I’ve] done this year” 8) . [Chief Note: Actually, I said it “was the only boom thing [he’s] done all year”] I made it so that if a song doesn’t have a download or review URL filled in, the entry doesn’t have links in those areas. Of course, this makes it much easier to distinguish songs that can be clicked from songs that can’t… eliminating confusion (though I debate the possibility that it also eliminates page load time, since extra code has to be loaded to perform this trick). Also, Snake made it so that you can click the artist name and genre in the tables, and it’ll show all songs by that artist or of that genre!

We currently have 151 songs (mainly ones I added), and it looks like Quelog even rated one of the new ones! Maybe you won’t be dropped to contributing editor, que 😀 …
