Work in Progress

Obviously, the nav is mostly dysfunctional. It’ll be working by the end of tomorrow on all pages, hopefully. The switch from frames to tables is a bitch, but it gives us a lot more linkage space. Well, I’m out…nothing really newsworthy except for the Northwood Preview at [H]ardOCP. There’s also a newer article about Corsair building gaming rigs, but I’ve haven’t read it yet…probably some bs. The goddamn CPU technology is advancing too fast; I’m still stuck with a P3 700, here. If anyone has $400 they aren’t using, lemme know and I’ll take it off your hands. I need a new Mobo/CPU/RAM so bad, I can taste it, and it doesn’t taste good.

Sum’Bitch!

Well, great to see that everyone else is having such a wonderful time. I’ve been having a terrible time! First i’ve had to deal with my ISP. MSN and Qwest did some kind of merger of isp or something (more aptly described as MSN consuming Qwest) and so i had to change ISPs. I tried the switch immediately, and after i had sentenced Qwest to termination in 10 days, MSN wouldnt freakin recognize my account. After i threatened to use my super-stud power on it, it started working. But then i had to wait for the MSN software CD. As luck would have it, the goddamn software on the CD wouldnt connect to the internet. I was down to another few days of Qwest access. So after trying to figure out wtf was going on for about a day, i finally gave in and called the bastards. I had to wait on hold for about a half-hour, but the helper-person was actually quite nice and we got the problem sorted out in no time (the bubble-heads forgot to send me some crucial registration numbers.) I was finally connected to “MSN Powered by Qwest.” Of course, then, MSNs wonderful integrated BS started messing with me. Outlook Express couldnt get it through its thick code that i wanted two different address books, not one combination. The damn thing just wouldnt do it right, so i had to remove my stuff from OE so my parents could work it without getting my email and address book. In addition, their connection software is also jank. Theres the normal Windows connection thing, MSNs connection thing, and MSNs “connection manager” which also has a connection thing. So suddenly i can have conflicting reports about whether or not i am on the blinkin internet! It wont even let me disconnect some times! Furthermore, MSN and IE are bound together! If one is on, the other has to be too!

But thats nothing. After about a week, i got a letter from them saying that i will now get 10 free hours with a charge of $1.50 for every additinal hour! Thats not right! So i waited for about a week and a half before i called them, (i was too busy,) and sweated every second. Last night i finally got it sorted out.. the idiots worded the letter poorly; the deal is that you get those rates IN ADDITION to your normal account, so that you can connect from somewhere else (like from a laptop on a buisness trip.)

But still, theres the problems im having with UPS. I ordered a Inno3d GeForce 2 Ti Titanium 64meg DDR (with tv connection features) from http://www.ocie.com. It took them 5 days to send the order to UPS, which recieved the information on the 27th. My expensive 2nd Day Air shipment STILL hasnt arrived! Its the 3rd!

Just about the only flicker of good news (except for the fact that i dont owe msn $160 for connection rates) is that i might be getting rid of my 2 hour connection limit! The guy at tech support said that it was an old Qwest thing and that msn doesnt do that. So the guy sent the information to Qwest and i should be getting some information from them in the next few days.. either that or they will just fix it, in which case i simply wont disconnect at 2 hours. Pretty swooby, eh? Oh, and also, Valve got back to be about being a Beta Tester.. looks like im going to be working on CS 1.4 and all of the other pre-releases. Schweet!

Oh yeah, and i forgot to mention, my Quelog@Qwest.net account is gone, and theres no MSN.com account to take its place. They only give you one @msn.com account and the rest are free hotmail accounts. Cheap!

Flash-Traffic Emergency Message!
Video Card Has Arrived! And im gonna call the bastards and get my 30 bucks back for 2 day air!!

Awww yeh! Snow!!!

The big news today is the first snow fell here for this winter. There’s about 6 or 7 inches in most places and it just finished a few minutes ago; started at about 12 last night. Well, 4 day weekend…fragalicious! 😮

The best part of this whole thing is I woke up and immediately recorded a video of the snow and then imported and edited it with my new tv card and software. 8) It’s about 12MB, but the quality is spectacular for the fact that it was 600Kb/s (that’s bits). The background music is also very swoob. You’ll need the DivX codec, though. Click the screenshot to download.

Also, I recently beat Ghost Recon. 8) Pretty good game, I’d give it about 9/10. There were little things here and there that I didn’t like, but overall…it was really a top-notch game. Time to beat: not really sure, probably 20hrs. PCG made it sound like this game was really hard, but I found it reasonably easy on the veteran difficulty. Because you never have too many SShots, here’s some more:

Ahhh…just when it sucks to go back to school, it kicks ass to buck out the next day. Enjoy the video. Cool, it just started again…supposed to get another inch.

CS Rockage, etc.

Well, I’ve been playing some serious CS recently and thought I’d share some of my ownage. I’ve played some on the Hot Cinnamon server Loog likes, but it’s pretty laggy for me, so I will only be playing on it if Loog’s on too.

My favorite servers are the XLGnetwork servers at 64.81.236.40/41. I get a fairly constant 50-70 ping there with my swooby Cox@Home. Here’s some shots of me owning on dust:

I’d post some SShots of what I get on Hot Cinnamon, but it’s usually a fairly lame 1:1 K:DR. Umm, I guess someone’s gotta do it… happy New Years!

Back into the swing of CS…

Ok, so I’m finally all unvirused and ready for gaming again. The game I missed the most was CS, so I re-DLed it & got all my backup files back in. Yesterday, after Bleys and I played on a couple servers he likes but I lag badly on, I searched and found 5 new servers to look through. Today, I had started a table to put on here listing attributes of each server, but I found that most of them sucked. I even got banned from one server just cause my ping was too high! 😮 One server, called “|BSS| Bitch Slap Squad” is good, because I get great ping to it, but noone’s ever on it (which could be an advantage, cause we can use it for clan practices).

But anyway, one server stands high among the rest. The “TFR Hot Cinnamon” server (the Task Force Ranger clan) gives me great ping (and remember, I have a 56k), has stats (Psycho stats, like GD had), has a very nicely designed site (TFRclan.com), and has cool people. The downside, though, is that it has a curse ban. The max players is 24, and there are a total of 33 maps (though 6 of those are custom ones that I can’t seem to be able to DL from their site). The IP is:

oO0º° 207.19.97.111:27016 °º0Oo

Hot cinnamon for x-mas! Int.

Hot plates of news…

…served with a touch of Christmas joy. Maybe…no, fuck that.

Break out DAP, cause it’s time to download a shitload of stuff again. 😮

First off, the new version of the DivX codec is out, 4.12. It fixes some junk with the P4 and VIA chipsets…so, I reckon I’ll probably get it, being that I have a VIA chipset. Linkage

Just when you thought your Quake version was current, it ain’t! 😕 Mother fuckers at id busted out a new version on Thursday. It doesn’t look like an important patch, unless you play online often. If you can decypher it, here’s what it fixes:

fixed Doppler effect
changed protocol from 66 to 67
fixed simple developer 1 cvar cheat hack
changed a few warnings to developer warnings
rcon commands no longer fragment, sent buffered to the rcon client
fixed connection issues / broken userinfo
only printing R_AddPolyToScene warnings with +set developer 1
various dedicated server issues fixed

I wish they’d permenantly fix my mouse scroll and zoom problems one of these days. Linkage, or the id FTP looks good today and no lines.

That’s all the downloads, I guess. Uhh…I saw a pretty funny cartoon over at [H]ardOCP today whilst browsing their news. Linkage. Also, you should check out the Case MOD article they had. Loog and I were gawking over them cases in networking class on Thursday and then I played the only First-Person shooter I could find for Java, Scared.

Friday, I put in a new Dual Fan 300w PSU. I haven’t experienced any weird shit with the Hard Drives yet, so it must have been a bad unit. 8)

Saturday, I was attacked by women whilst trying to sleep. 😡 Damn you! Here‘s one of them, now!
