Ok, so I haven’t posted news since the AprCol debate (which I see is still in rumor circulation, cause people refuse to accept things). Well, what have I been doing? I have been chatting, playing CS, reviewing 15 MODs at MODArchive, and upgrading Will’s site (which brings up another point: I am open for web page remodeling, starting at $3/hour, $10 for construction of new web page). But aside from that, I have been up to my ears in CGI learning. For our .com, we now have the new optiong of using CGI to store user-gathered info to be displayed instantly on the page. Here’s a list of possible CGI scripts I may or may not learn by Christmas:

1. Table Sorting
2. Form Posting
3. Search
4. Counter
5. Guestbook
6. Shopping Cart

I have already received help in e-mail form from the actual creator of Psycho Stats for CS, which uses table array sorting. Also, he gave me a URL to a site that was very helpful: www.webmonkey.com. There are many very well-written tutorials on various web and graphical design concepts, including CGI. My third resource is a site called “Ranson’s Scripts“, which has many downloadable scripts.

Note to Snake: Something I learned from Webmonkey is that most servers require you to have the .cgi files in the same dir. as the .htmls, and to have the .pl files only in the cgi-bin. Also, be sure to use proper chmod permissions.

As many things are in life, CGI is very complicated but also very useful.
