Whilst my parents were in the Bahamas, I had what will now be called the “Sim-Fest”; a festival of…well, playing “The Sims” for 26 Hours in three days (and I had school one of those days). The biggest chunk of my time, and probably the longest I’ve ever spent playing a game straight, was on Friday: 7:30pm to 6:30am; 11 hours! Everything you may have heard is true; this is an extremely addictive game. So far, “Chris” has a 7-room house, plasma TV, hot-tub, a job as a Lobbyist, and a hot wife, “Rebecca.”
But, “The Sims” has it’s share of niggles and obnoxious things; things that are present in the real world, but not the game. So, I went to the Longbow Digital Arts site and found an upgrade to one of my already favorite demos, DX-Ball2. Now it has in-game music, cooler boards, and multiplayer support (basically just a tourney on one system). It reignited my love of this “blockbusting” demo (they call it a full version with just 24 boards, though). And as always Loogie and I fragged our way through the zombie-filled multiplayer levels of Doom2 on Doom95, and I played a good many “Hunted” maps as the Prez in TFC. 300 points for the BodyGuards!

Damn Snipers!

This week, I’ve been cutting through Diablo. This game really is good. I’ve made it to level 10 of the church. The thing I love the most about the game is hearing and seeing the enemies die. My favorites are the Unseen, Poison Spitter, Clans (Flesh, Stone, Fire, and Night), Gloom, and all of the skeletons. I like to cheat for 5,000 gold with BobaFett’s Trainer and going to town and buying really expensive items. This game needs no explanation, aside from the one on February’s Column.

I have also been playing Chip’s Challenge, RollerCoaster Tycoon, and DoomII. I will get the ever-popular “The Sims” before next week, which will undoubtably occupy all of my time. Read PCGamer’s 96%-scoring review on it!

This week, I’ve been playing Populous: The Beginning a lot (Loogie gave me a copy of it); and got through 5 levels so far. Populous is a excellent game, and if you have some time download the demo (I gave it a 9 on the DemoBoard). I must commend Bullfrog for the graphics, cutscenes, gameplay, interface, and Bump-mapping on the menu (believe me, the menu is Wicked).

Besides Populous, I enjoyed some Chip’s Challenge, Age of Kings, and of course TeamFortress Classic and Doom2. I’m anticipating “The Sims”, so next week expect most of my list on that game. Well, It’s time for me to engage in some Delta Force (also a great demo) on NovaWorld.

Happy Gaming!
