I had a lot of firsts this week in TFC. I killed somebody with a sniper rifle (I never play as a sniper, okay?) and successfully used the demoman’s detpack. I blew a hole in the enemy’s yard in crossover2. I played on the maps No Man’s Land (nml) and Circle Jerk 2 (cj2) for the first time. No Man’s Land is a really unique and cool frozen wasteland map. Circle Jerk 2 is okay, but it sucks because of the fact that, when somebody captures the flag, every person in the team gets 10 kills, instead of just the team getting 10 points, so you get kills that you didn’t earn. I also had other firsts, like different ways to kill people and different weapons used correctly.

I would like to make a clarification on last week’s playlist: I had said that it is easiest to get kills as an HWGuy or a engy. That’s not true; it is definitely easiest as a demoman or HWGuy. Demomen have three weapons that explode: pipebombs, norm grenades and MIRV grenades (the last of which is a total killer by itself), AND you get a shotgun that’s quick as hell to reload! And, HWGuys have the assault cannon (need I say more?). Spies are the next best thing. Quick, deceitful, and real back stabbers. Soldiers are lame, with their big rockets, engys are cheap, cause they rely totally on their sentries, snipers get killed too easily, it takes forever to kill someone with the flamethrower as a Pyro, and Medics are just gay, infecting people all the time. There’s my brief class critique.

I’m somewhat into making and using scripts for TFC. I use spy scripts the most. Just another great way to customize TFC.
My days of the childish, repetitive “The Sims” are over, and I am going to uninstall it from my HDD permanently soon.

This week, I played some Extreme Rodeo, Teen Digital Diva II, Search For the Golden Dolphin and Test Drive 6. Oh, wait, that’s not me; that’s the loser who doesn’t get PC Gamer and therefore doesn’t know a good game from a bad one. Actually, I continued to play TFC this week. TFC is incredibly addictive. It’s like drugs: crack and reefer mixed with a little bit of crystal meth. Really, that “reefer” is probably the concussion grenades that make you all dizzy. Friday night, I played from 7:00 PM to 1:00 AM. I normally wouldn’t play this long, but I had a goal: become Sergeant. I finally did it, but it wasn’t easy. I got 18 kills on crossover2. That’s where that crack really kicked in. I am no longer a llama; llamas don’t have titles. I played about 20 games last night, but the next morning, I beat my record again with 19 kills, on the FIRST game! I have found that it’s easiest to get kills as an engy or HW Guy.

As my Cool Things Table this week indicates, TFC is pretty much all I played. I did however manage to squeeze in about an hour of Doom2 (Marines WAD) and about the same amount of time with Links LS 2000.

“We just played this damn map!”
That’s what you say, but do they listen? No. As much as I like TFC, some things just irk me. On one of my favorites, “KeysDigital Team Fortress Classic,” there is an automated voting system, and if a map has the most votes, the master changes that server to that map. But the voting system can be initiated at any time, so there can be a 5 minute long map! Anyway, I did pretty well this week. I killed Snake a couple of times, and I got Gandalf 3 times in one game! My current favorite maps are “2 Fortresses,” “Badlands,” “Well,” “Crossover,” “Hunted,” and “CanalZone 2.” TFC is a game that will never grow old.

This is probably the most one-sided week of gaming this year for me. Aside from Doom2, TFC is the only game and basically the only thing at all that I played on my PC this week. On Doom2, I played the Marines custom WAD, which Snake has been refurbishing lately. I am going to add some stuff to it too, and it will be available for download here at S&L soon.

I’m sure you want to hear something different for a change, so here you go: I played Links LS 2000 (demo) a little this week. This is a really good golf game; very soothing. Snake and I played a multiplayer game of it. He won, but I don’t know how, since neither one of know much about golf. I’ve played it before, but not for score; just on my golf course for fun. All Snake’s played is Put-put!

Finally, Snake found a really cool program called Kali. It configures mulitplayer games, like GameSpy. This thing supports… hold on to your assault cannons… 262 games! 262! This also has numerous setup options and is very quick. It has some drawbacks, though: no sounds initially, and hardly anybody uses it.

That’s it. I’m rather tired now, my energy depleted from TFC.

TFC has taken over my life (well, as far as the computer is concerned)! I sometimes forget that there is actually a single-player mode to it, called Half-Life! TFC in the morning, TFC in the evening. I’ve probably played about 15 hours of TFC this week. I still basically suck, but I get a kickass kill every now and then. I am usually an engineer- it gives me so much power building sentry guns! And that kill Snake was talking about was pretty good… but he left something out- I killed him with a grenade and then immediately got another guy with my shotgun! As much as I like the HWGuy’s assault cannon, he’s just too damn slow! I prefer a good old engy, soldier, or spy any day.

I have also been whipping out some Doom2, of course. I have been concentrating on HacX, Marines, and Slaughterhouse custom WADs. Slaughterhouse comes with one new map but has no enemies. I have been fixing that. It just has too good sounds and graphics to pass up. But, mainly, I’ve been playing Marines. It’s short but good. To go along with the FPS swing, I also eliminated some blue-blooded Nazis in Wolfenstein.

Due to boredom, I almost played Multiplayer Diablo on battle.net then stopped, remembering that it SUCKS! Instead, I played some DX-Ball2 (it seems futile to ever finish it) and Solitaire (I said I was bored, okay?).

I haven’t gotten my RAM yet, but I’m sure that it won’t work on my crappo-rama PC either.
Notice that we never mention The Sims anymore?

Ok, first of all, I don’t see why Snake is obsessing so much about TFC. “Team S&L” only had one TFC fest this week, and most of the time, Snake is either playing Doom2 or doing something on the PC that’s not a game. Anyway, our TFC fest was pretty fun. I used to be a “Llama,” but now I have become more skilled at it. I saved a group of my dudes on the battlements in one game by waxing a hostile right in the back! TFC is as fun as watching my student teacher in P.E. get knocked unconscious by a basketball!

I have also been playing “Beyond Wolfenstein 2,” a very fun game indeed. You can get the full version at www.download.com. I mean, what do you except, the game’s 10 years old! We both keep getting older and older games (Doom, now this). I don’t know why we do it, but, don’t worry, we won’t start playing Pong. Of course, Doom2 has been pumping carnage through my house too, especially with the add-on, HacX (also at www.download.com). HacX has new levels, new monsters, new weapons, and new map elements. I highly recommend playing it on Doom Legacy Launcher.

To conclude my jam-packed week of gaming, I played some DX-Ball2 (I got to level 21 [out of 25 (in the bought board pack)] in Searching For Bucephalas twice) and finished up my cool level that I made, “Enigma,” for Chip’s Challenge (which, along with 24 others, will soon be available for download on the Custom Games page).

Pretty much the same as last week. I’ve been playing DX-Ball and The Sims, but I have also been playing TFC and Chip’s Challenge. My favorite “Hunted” map is CityHunted. I am getting better at TFC. It’s strange, but Half-Life usually shuts down when I do something (well, after I formatted my HDD, at least), but TFC runs very smoothly. I have been working on Snake and I’s Chip’s Challenge level pack, too. I may get another DX-Ball board pack in a couple of months.
“Try to climb down my ladder, do ya? BOOM!”
