All this new stuff

Yes, the news posting cgi obviously works…so far. Hopefully (as Que has found out), posting news won’t be as stressful and should help aleviate some of our time for other things, such as making new columns. BTW, I’m currently finishing up the research to be used in my next column, The VT6X4 Tweak Guide.

You may have also noticed that a lot of the major pages at S–L.com have the extension .shtml. This is because of the new visitor tracking system I put in place tonight. To use SSI (Server-Side Includes), the page has to be Server HTML (shtml) and the SSI is what sends all the visitor information to the database. Using this, I think we will be able to find out what our most popular sections are and enhance those even further.

That’s about it for now. I’d have to make a 10 page post if I wanted to describe my “20 Days of no news”, so I think I’ll skip that.

After Twenty Days

Well, she-it. Its been twenty days since a news post! [ED NOTE: As a matter of fact, this post was made a few days ago but removed when Snake got the CGI working, and is now re-upped.] I guess a lot has happened in the last twenty days, and to spare everyone a little time, I’ll try to keep this short.

The structure of the S&L Clan has changed: Now it is divided into three teams; the S&L Infiltration Team (Led by Snake and I,) the S&L Counter-Strike Team (Led by Loogie,) and the S&L TFC Team (Led by Snake and Loogie.) Each team has/will have its own version of the S&L Ranking Program, its own members, and its own rules. This new system will make things a lot easier. The Clan Portal is on the [S&L] button on the nav.

Snake was gone to some relatives house or something for nine days, where he didn’t have access to the internet. He was gone from the 10th to the 19th. He was also grounded from his PC yesterday or something.

And in more Snake news, he’s been nabbed by the man for some reason or another related to hacking (I don’t know what, loog didn’t tell me much.) Also, I hear that someone discovered the infamous “quotes and convos” page at S&L and that Snake and Loog are taking a lot of heat for it (if you dont know what that is, its related to the April Column Event… if you don’t know what that is, then don’t ask.)

Finally getting to the good part… In an epic battle, I defeated the SirCam virus! It got onto my rig by way of my dumb mom, but I destroyed it! Check any anti-virus site, and you’ll see that SirCam is currently the number one deadly virus on the internet! Bwahahaha! I even made a collage!

Whoa! Something really weird just happened in CS. I was having a great time against some vets on GD (we were goofing around with awps and scouts and knives)… and then the server crashed. But that’s not the weird part. Before that, everyone had been having mad lag and ghosting problems. But that’s not the weird part. After about 20 minutes, I checked GameSpy, and sure enough the server was back up.. with one player on (Italy). But that’s not the weird part. I joined and he left, and so i played for a few rounds by myself to boost hostages killed for stats. And then this llama joined who didn’t know how to chat… I said ceasefire and he shot me with glock so I had to kill him. But that’s not the weird part. Here the weird part: I had kept hearing strange sounds in the game, as if someone else was playing, but they weren’t. So when I went for the hostages and bumped into something at the T spawn… turns out it was a ghost player.. i stabbed it and it died! Blood and all! It said “Enemy: ******” yet wasn’t listed on the player list!!! lolol, enjoy the screen.

Just a quick post for today, I should have a lot more in a post tomorrow or so. This is what I’ve been doing: beat Jerec’s ass down in Dark Forces 2, 3/4 the way through Deus Ex (haven’t played in a couple days, though), the ranks are in now for the S&L TFC RANKING PROGRAM (but it still has yet to be ported over to CS and INF), and the new clan section is up. I was kinda surprised at how quickly and efficiently I got the clan section done, took about 6 hours. That doesn’t include the CS subsection though, as that is Loog’s business (but would include the INF section). Okay, that’s it.
